Wed India 123 article
Eunuchs Defy Norms to Walk the Ramp This is a very short article but it talks about current events with the community. It also has some interesting facts about the community but provides no sources for the information it provides.
Almost 10 years ago I wrote my undergraduate thesis on the Hijras of India. I spent 6 months exhausting the limited research that had been done on this community. When I was done with my BA in religious studies, I went on to get my MS in Library Science. I felt it should be easier for people to find the great sources out there. It should be easier for people to connect with the research done by others. I created the guide and this blog to help collect the research done by anthropologist, doctors and other experts. I hope this helps others get access to the research. With that in mind, I am not a member of the community and I do not know any Hijras. I am happy to post appeals for help by researcher to allow you to connect with others. It has been almost 10 years since I did the research myself. It is not a topic I have kept up with that much. Your best resource: your local librarians. Libraries and Librarians are here to help you with research. They want to help you find resources. Use them.
